This is why Bupa St Kilda Retirement Village in Cambridge, Waikato is searching for a like-mind Wellbeing Support Assistant to join the team and make a real difference to the lives of our residents living in our 19 serviced apartments

As part of our Household team based in the Retirement Village, you will help create a comfortable, clean, and healthy place by providing residents with general housekeeping services as well as assistance with daily living and lifestyle tasks. You will also be responsible for keeping communal areas clean and well presented. 

We have two permanent, part time positions available. This role will work a total of 27.5 hours across a 2-weekly roster cycle (average 13 hours per week). This covers Monday – Sunday and you will work alternate weekends.

1) Permanent, part time role: average of 13 hours per week

  • Week 1: Thursday & Friday 9am – 2pm; Saturday & Sunday 10:30am – 1pm
  • Week 2: Wednesday – Friday, 9am – 2pm
  • May need future flexibility to begin some shifts at 7am or 8am as the needs increase.

2) Permanent, part time role: average of 13 hours per week

  • Week 1: Monday – Wednesday, 9am – 2pm
  • Week 2: Monday & Tuesday 9am – 2pm. Saturday & Sunday 10:30am – 1pm
  • May need future flexibility to begin some shifts at 7am or 8am as the needs increase.

Where You Will Make an Impact 

  • Provide effective, efficient, and hygienic weekly cleaning of each resident’s apartment to a high standard.
  • Complete all daily cleaning tasks for the community area as scheduled.
  • Provide daily bed making service to residents and weekly bed changing services.
  • Ensure care is taken with collecting and returning residents' laundry in a timely manner.
  • Provide reminders and ensure medications are taken, and support with filling prescriptions.
  • Assist with dressing and undressing, personal hygiene supervision, and meal deliveries.
  • Provide any other general services our residents subscribe to, such as companion time.
  • Report to the manager any faults, issues, or when supplies need replacement in residents’ homes and community areas.
  • Manage supplies economically and avoid wastage.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe chemical use and storage.
  • Treat residents with respect and dignity.

What About You

  • Previous experience in an aged care environment, disability support, or community services (desirable).
  • Ideal work experience of 2+ years in a customer service or support role such as hospitality, housekeeping, or home-based care.
  • First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
  • Take pride in providing high quality household services that help residents live comfortably and safely.
  • Acknowledge and accept each village resident as an individual and actively encourage residents to be independent.
  • Always respect the confidentiality and privacy of village residents, and actively communicate and listen respectfully to residents.
  • Show an ability to work well individually and with a team.
  • Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, and passion for making a difference in our residents’ lives. 
  • Reliable transport or travel arrangements.
  • Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
