Permanent Part-Time Activities Coordinator | 28 Hours per Week | 9:00am–3:30pm | 4-on, 2-off Roster

This role suits someone who is naturally warm, organised, and creative, and who can confidently plan and deliver a varied activities programme that meets the needs of different residents. You’ll need to draw on your experience to run both group and one-on-one activities, adapt plans to suit changing abilities, and build genuine relationships with residents and their families. Strong communication, reliability, and the ability to work closely with the wider care team are key, along with a proactive mindset to bring fresh ideas and keep activities meaningful and enjoyable.

Hours & Roster Details:
- Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time
- Hours: Average 28 hours per week
- Shift Time: Morning Shifts of 9am – 3:30pm
- Roster Pattern: 4 days on, 2 days off (6-weekly roster across Monday - Sunday)
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and support a team of activities assistants, ensuring activities are well-coordinated, engaging, and aligned with residents’ needs.
- Manage activity plans for residents across this 87-bed care home, with rest home and hospital levels of care.
- Plan, develop, and lead individualised activity plans for each resident based on the activity assessment outcome, their interests, and preferences.
- Ensure our valuable residents are treated with full respect, dignity, and cultural sensitivity.
- Maintain personal and professional development - we have on-site managers who always encourage our staff to up-skill!
Skills and Qualification
To be successful in this role, you will enjoy a variety of work and have prior experience in this field, along with an interest in and understanding of the elderly and their needs.
- You’ll have a NZQA (or equivalent) Diversional Therapy (level 4) Certificate (or working towards a DT qualification)
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar healthcare setting is preferable.
- Have a creative flair to contribute towards a full and varied activities programme and help look after our residents while creating a caring atmosphere.
- You are a caring, team player, vibrant, and energetic, with an active interest in organising activities for multiple levels of function and ability.
- Have strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- You will be required to drive the van for outings so a clean, full driver’s license is essential.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
