National Physiotherapist – Lead Innovation in Aged Care

Are you a forward-thinking Physiotherapist ready to shape the future of aged care? Bupa is seeking a National Physiotherapist to lead the delivery of high-quality, innovative physiotherapy services across our 40 care homes and 36 retirement villages, where you will make a true difference in the lives of our residents.

About the Role

This strategic and clinical leadership role combines virtual consultations, in-person support, and provider management to ensure consistent, evidence-based physiotherapy care nationwide. You’ll champion innovation—like wearable tech and remote monitoring—while supporting care teams with expert advice and safe moving & handling practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead national physiotherapy service delivery aligned with Bupa’s clinical and strategic goals.
  • Provide virtual and in-person clinical support to care teams and residents.
  • Manage relationships with contracted physiotherapy providers and external funders (ACC, Health NZ/Te Whatu Ora).
  • Drive innovation through new models of care and technology-enabled solutions.
  • Support safe moving and handling practices and staff capability building.
  • Explore physiotherapy services for independent living residents in village settings.
  • Conduct audits, quality assurance, and report to the Clinical and Quality Director.
  • Collaborate across teams to shape strategic direction and service development.

In this newly created role, you will have the opportunity to make a difference in ensuring positive outcomes for our residents, and leading a nationally consistent approach with our physiotherapy services.

What You’ll Bring

  • NZ Registered Physiotherapist with a current APC.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • 5+ years post-registration experience in aged care, rehabilitation, or community health.
  • Proven leadership and mentorship of other physiotherapists or allied health professionals.
  • Capability in leading or coordinating physiotherapy services across multiple sites or regions.
  • Experience with virtual consultations and digital health tools.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and time management skills.

Why Join Bupa?

  • Lead a national service with real impact on resident wellbeing.
  • Be part of a values-driven organisation committed to innovation and excellence.
  • Work flexibly with access to cutting-edge tools and support.
  • Help shape the future of physiotherapy in aged care and retirement living.
  • Hybrid work environment with a mix of in-office days in Newmarket and work-from-home.
  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance to our eligible permanent NZ employees and a discount on insurance cover for eligible family members.
  • Wellbeing discounts and advice, EAP counselling services, study support, and cultural leave.
  • Paid parental leave - in addition to standard parental leave, Bupa offers 12 weeks of paid leave for primary carers and 2 weeks for secondary carers.
  • Refer-a-friend programme.
  • Professional Development – in-house and external training and development.
  • Industry-competitive remuneration and benefits, and internal reward and recognition programmes.
