Systems Engineer

That’s why we are seeking a Systems Engineer for a six month contract who will be part of the Bupa Technology team in Auckland. Working closely with your Technology team and the Projects team, you will play an integral role in working to build, operate, and maintain Bupa’s technology infrastructure, servers, and network.
Bupa’s technology services include data centres in Porirua, Wellington and Newmarket, Auckland; distributed WAN across New Zealand connecting care and independent living facilities; Cloud hosted infrastructure in Azure, hosted applications, PaaS, and SaaS; on premise VoIP technology delivered to all Bupa facilities and offices; with an increasing migration to Cloud, Microsoft Azure and Office 365.
The Systems Engineer works with a small team to build, operate and maintain Bupa’s technology infrastructure, servers and network. The team also has access to the ANZ Technology teams for additional support and expertise.
Where You’ll Make an Impact
- Maintain effective security controls to protect the business and customer data, and systems.
- Work along Cyber Security teams to monitor and identify any possible intrusions and, to maintain agreed controls.
- Provide second level support, investigate and troubleshoot issues, manage escalation through third parties.
- Perform system backup, recovery operations, Disaster Recovery procedures, systems monitoring to identify risks, and regular file archival as necessary.
- Provide second level support, investigate and troubleshoot issues, and support the escalations from the Service Desk team.
- Oversee day-to-day operations, including looking after the data centre and network nationwide.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of technology infrastructure strategy and roadmap.
This is a six month contract role working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, based at our Newmarket Head Office with hybrid working. You will work closely with your team to support information and communication technologies used across Bupa.
Your Skillset / About You
We are seeking an experienced Systems Engineer with a minimum 5-8 years experience in a system engineering role, ideally within a large, complex organisation. You will have the proven ability to hit the ground running. You will abe able to demonstrate:
- Microsoft Qualification - MCSE/MCSD/MCAD/MCT
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Server and Desktop Operating Systems
- Expert proficiency with Systems Administration of Active Directory and EntraID
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Office Application Suite from Office 2016 through to current versions.
- Expert proficiency with VMware or similar.
- Expert proficiency with Veeam or similar backup technologies.
- Extensive experience in IT service delivery
- Extensive experience with Microsoft 365 Cloud and Applications.
- Extensive experience with Microsoft SCCM.
- Extensive experience in managing network and firewall technologies.
- Experience in managing Dell Xrail hyperconverged storage and physical hosts is desirable.
- Experience with Aruba Networking Technologies and Aruba Central
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, maintains a positive outlook, always looks for ways to improve.
- Ability to work under pressure and modify tempo to suit different situations.
- Ability to work flexible hours as required, including occasional weekends and on-call roster.
