Household Assistant

This is why Ballarat Care Home in Rangiora is searching for like-mind Household Assistants to join the team and make a real difference to the lives of our residents.
As part of our Household team, you will help create a comfortable, clean, and healthy place for our residents by providing exceptional cleaning and laundry services to the Care Home. Help us rise to the challenges of enriching the lives of society’s most vulnerable.
We have 2x permanent positions available, working on a 6-weekly rotating roster pattern (Monday - Sunday):
1) Permanent, part time role: average of 17.5 hours per week
- 7.30AM to 3.30PM
- 2 days on and 4 days off rotating roster
2) Permanent, part time role: average 28 hours per week
- 8.30AM to 3PM
- 4 days on and 2 days off rotating roster
3) Casual position: no guaranteed hours or shifts (on-call basis)
Where You Will Make an Impact
- Provide effective, efficient, and hygienic cleaning and laundry services to a high standard.
- Complete all daily cleaning tasks set by the cleaning schedule, ensuring that residents’ rooms, public areas, and laundry are in perfect order.
- Ensure all care is taken with the residents' personal clothing and returned to owners.
- Operate all laundry equipment as specified and maintain clear separation of clean and dirty areas within the laundry.
- Report to the manager any faults, issues, or when supplies need replacement.
- Manage supplies economically, avoiding wastage.
- Adhere to Health & Safety policies, procedures, and safe chemical use and storage.
- Treat residents with respect and dignity.
What About You
- Previous housekeeping experience in a similar environment is preferable.
- Take pride in providing high quality household services that help residents live comfortably and safely.
- Show an ability to work well individually and with a team to create a smooth workflow.
- You are prepared to roll up your sleeves and help with anything that needs to get done.
- Demonstrate enthusiasm, care, and passion for making a difference in our residents’ lives while communicating well with others.
- Flexible availability for a variety of shifts throughout the week, including weekends and evenings.
- Reliable transport or travel arrangements.
- Applicants must be legally entitled to work in NZ.
