Reporting to the Financial Controller, this is a great opportunity for a Senior Financial Accountant to take responsibility for the internal and external financial reporting and statutory compliance for Bupa Villages & Aged Care in New Zealand, part of the global Bupa Group. 

In this role you will have ownership over the month-end process as well as delivering financial information to management, including insights including commentary, trend, and variance analysis.

Where you will make an impact:

  • Oversee the month end reporting, including monthly reporting to Australia and quarterly reporting to the UK.
  • Assist in the production of external financial reporting, including statutory reporting, within agreed timetables in the required format and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure accounting records are maintained in a manner that accurately records all transactions and reflects the group’s assets and liabilities.
  • Tax compliance - preparation of GST, FBT, withholding tax – schedular payments, RWT and NRWT returns.
  • Monitor developments in accounting practice and ensure Bupa complies with all regulatory and best practice requirements. Ensure Bupa also complies with accounting policies set by the parent company.
  • Maintain appropriate working papers and documentation and ensure all reconciliations are maintained in an appropriate manner, including reconciliation of intra group transactions.
  • Finance lead on Technology One and other systems which require accounting and financial expertise and input.
  • Assist in the preparation and upload of the annual budget.

About you

You will be an CPA/CA qualified Financial Accountant with experience in month-end reporting, preparation of financial statements and high-level financial analysis. You should be able to demonstrate:

An ability to interpret relevant legislation, regulations, and financial reporting requirements.  You will also be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience with management and financial systems. Experience with Technology One, PeopleSoft and Tagetik would be an advantage.
  • Ability to respond professionally and effectively to the needs of internal and external customers.
  • High level of initiative and motivation with a proactive approach.
  • Breadth of experience working in a large complex finance environment is desirable.
  • Advanced excel skills is desirable.
  • Flexibility and ability to cope with a varied workload.
