The purpose of this job

Are you an experienced Clinical Manager ready to move beyond leading one care home?

This permanent full-time role gives you the opportunity to support Bupa care homes across New Zealand. You will step into different care home environments, provide clear clinical leadership and help teams maintain safe, consistent and person-centred care.

Flights, travel and accommodation are paid for, removing the personal cost of working across different locations. You will work 40 hours per week, primarily Monday to Friday.

You can be based in Christchurch, Wellington, Auckland, or another major city. When assigned to a care home, you will travel to that location and stay nearby for the duration of your placement.

You will need to be comfortable entering a new care home, understanding its immediate needs and building trust quickly. You will support clinical performance, coach care teams, manage clinical risk and help each home strengthen its systems and ways of working.

This role could be the right next step if you are currently a Clinical Manager at one site and want to broaden your experience. Instead of managing the same home each day, you will use your knowledge across different teams, communities and clinical settings.

You will not do this alone. You will have access to Bupa’s national clinical, quality and operational support teams. You will also have professional development through Bupa Campus and leadership training.

As a Clinical Manager, you’ll support and lead a purpose driven team to:

  • Lead clinical and care teams to deliver safe, high-quality care and strong clinical outcomes across our care homes.
  • Ensure residents receive person-centred care that supports their health, wellbeing, dignity, and quality of life.
  • Coach, mentor, and develop nurses and caregivers, creating engaged and high-performing teams.
  • Oversee care planning, medication management, audits, clinical documentation, compliance, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Use clinical systems, reporting tools, and data insights to improve outcomes, support audit success, participate in the on-call roster when required, and travel across New Zealand to support multiple care homes.

What you’ll need to make it possible

  • Proven Clinical Manager leadership experience with the ability to drive strong clinical, quality, and operational outcomes.
  • Builds trusted relationships with residents, whānau, families, and teams while delivering person-centred care.
  • Experienced in coaching and leading multidisciplinary teams, creating high-performing and engaged workplaces.
  • Strong knowledge of aged care standards, clinical governance, audits, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Confident working across multiple care homes, adapting quickly, using technology effectively, and leading with autonomy.
  • Flexible to travel and stay away from home as required, adapting quickly to support multiple Bupa care homes across New Zealand.
Why you’ll love it?
  • Access to Bupa Campus – your go-to space for global learning and development
  • Be part of a strong national and regional support network of Clinical Managers, quality partners and clinical services improvement team
  • National forums, and internal reward and recognition programmes
  • Nursing Council-approved PDRP
  • Access to Viva, Bupa's global employee wellbeing programme
  • Southern Cross health insurance membership with monthly premiums fully paid for eligible employees
  • Enhanced parental leave - 12 or 24 weeks of paid gender-neutral parental leave for eligible employees
  • Access to a wide range of employee benefits and discounts across retail, technology and more. Employee Assistance Programme when you need it most
  • Regularly offered free flu vaccinations, free skin checks and initial menopause consultation
  • Refer a Friend Programme

If this sounds exciting, we’d love to hear from you. Let’s shape the future of healthcare, together.
