Operations Support Lead

Help strengthen operational resilience across one of New Zealand's largest aged care providers

At Bupa, our purpose is helping people live longer, healthier and happier lives.

We're looking for an Operations Support Lead to join our Operations team and play a key role in strengthening the systems, processes and plans that support our care home network.

This is a unique opportunity for someone who enjoys bringing order to complexity, building practical solutions and helping organisations prepare for the unexpected.

While the role has a broad operational support remit, a significant focus initially will be on operational resilience and business continuity. You'll work alongside operational leaders to improve preparedness, strengthen risk controls and ensure our care homes are supported by practical, up-to-date plans and processes.

This is a permanent, full time position working Monday - Friday, and you will be based at one of our support offices in either Wellington (Porirua), Auckland (Newmarket), or Christchurch (Papanui). You will work 3 days in the office and 2 days from home.

About the Role

Reporting to the Deputy Managing Director, you'll work across our care home network to support consistency, operational readiness and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the development and maintenance of operational resilience and business continuity plans.
  • Coordinating operational risk reviews and maintaining risk registers, controls and associated documentation.
  • Completing and maintaining Risk Control Assessments and supporting the identification of improvement opportunities.
  • Maintaining critical operational content within our Integrated Management System (IMS).
  • Coordinating the review and update of operational work instructions and process documentation.
  • Maintaining role-based induction and orientation materials for operational teams.
  • Supporting the deployment and onboarding readiness of our national reliever workforce.
  • Working with operational leaders to ensure key operational materials remain practical, current and fit for purpose.

About You

You'll be a highly organised self-starter who enjoys working across multiple stakeholders and turning ideas into practical outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in operations, business continuity, resilience, risk, quality, governance or a similar operational support role.
  • Strong planning, organisation and coordination skills.
  • The ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent written communication and document management skills.
  • A practical, solutions-focused mindset.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively across operational and support teams.

Experience in aged care, healthcare or another regulated environment would be advantageous, but is not essential. Exposure to business continuity, operational resilience, risk management or quality systems would be highly regarded.

Why join us?

This is an opportunity to help shape and strengthen the operational foundations of a national organisation delivering essential services to thousands of New Zealanders.

You'll gain exposure to senior operational leaders, work across a diverse range of projects and initiatives, and play an important role in helping our care homes remain resilient, prepared and ready to respond when it matters most.

Most importantly, the work you do will directly contribute to the safe and consistent delivery of care for our residents every day.

  • Hybrid work arrangements – 3 days in-office and 2 days work-from-home.
  • Fully subsidised Southern Cross health insurance for eligible permanent NZ employees, plus discounted cover for eligible family members.
  • Wellbeing discounts, EAP counselling, study support and cultural leave.
  • Paid parental leave, including 12 weeks for primary carers and 2 weeks for secondary carers.
  • Professional development through in-house and external training.
